Gov. Oshiomhole Mayaki, in statement, claimed that the state PDP had orchestrated dubious political machinations to instigate Christian and Muslim faithful in state against Oshiomhole. The boys gave their best,” said a sober Oliseh after the game. Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation also expressed regrets over the Super Eagles shock exit. This Photo of a Potato Sold for over $1 Million

Image
According to the Independent ,  a European businessman purchased this photo of a potato for 1 million euros ($1,086,950). Of course, it's probably not the potato itself that made the photograph so pricey. It was taken by acclaimed photographer Kevin Abosch in 2010 and is one of three versions of the print in existence. Abosch says it's the most expensive photo he's ever sold, and most of his work typically goes for around $280,000. So if any photo of a potato is ever going to be worth $1 million, it seems this would be the one. Still, that's an absurd price to pay for  a  photoof  a  potato.

British explorer dies of dehydration crossing Antarctic just 30 miles short of goal

Image
British explorer Henry Worsley has died attempting to be the first person to cross the Antarctic unaided, in an epic charity mission inspired by Ernest Shackleton. The 55-year-old former British Army officer died after being airlifted to a hospital in Punta Arenas, Chile, suffering severe exhaustion and dehydration. The father-of-two was found to have bacterial peritonitis (a bacterial infection in the abdomen), after having trekked around 913 miles unaided across the South Pole -- just 30 miles short of his end goal. With David BeckhamWorsley was 71 days into his record-breaking solo mission to complete the legendary British explorer Ernest Shackleton's unsuccessful crossing of Antarctica in the early 1900s.   But Worsley was forced to call for help on Friday amid blizzard conditions, and in poor health he was airlifted to hospital.   Worsley's last statement sent from Antarctica said: "The 71 days alone on the Antarctic with over 900 statute miles covered and a

FUTO polarized over appointment of new VC

Image
The Federal University of Technology, Owerri, FUTO, has been polarized as the institution shops for a new Vice Chancellor, VC, that will take over from the incumbent, Professor Chigozie C. Asiabaka, in the next five months. FUTO-maingate Strong feelers from the FUTO community revealed that there were serious plans to significantly alter the content of the advertisement already published by the institution. Confirming the fear during a check yesterday, a senior FUTO staff alleged that “while the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the institution’s Governing Council appears favourably disposed to a particular contestant, others believe that the VC has his own candidate.” The same senior staff not only told Vanguard that “an extra-ordinary meeting of the Senate is scheduled to hold today (Tuesday), in the  Senate Council Chamber”, but also alleged that the Governing Council would also meet  January 28, 2016, to also deliberate on the same issue. The staff equally showed Vanguard the copy

Fayose not recruiting any thugs, APC calling for coup – Aide

Image
‎ Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has described the allegation of treasonable comments made against him by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as not only ridiculous but coming from an unsound mind. Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Idowu Asdelusi, described as shameless lie, claim by the State Chapter of the APC that the governor was arming ten thugs per local government in the State, saying: “APC is obviously calling for a coup-de-tat against a governor democratically elected, whose tenure is fixed and mode of possible removal from office is stipulated in the Constitution of Nigeria.” He‎ said the tone of the press release by the APC really showed the poor state of mind of those running the affairs of party. "There is no point wrestling with pigs. For people with sound, discerning minds, they would, no doubt, wonder why somebody with a decent background and sound mind would refer to the governor of his state as needing psychiatric at

How my Nigeria husband saved me from my mum' - Kenyan woman writes

Image
Found this interesting story on Nairobi News. Read below... "I am one of those people who say they got pregnant by accident. I got pregnant at 19 just in my second year of university. I didn’t expect to get pregnant because I took the necessary precautions. From the beginning I wasn’t sure in my mind whether I should keep the baby. The father had already denied me.  I didn’t have a father figure in my life so I didn’t know what to do. I thought of how I was going to tell my mom, I didn’t know how she would react, especially being that I am the first and only child. I didn’t even know where to start. I felt I had already let her down. WORST FEAR My worst fear became a reality; my mom became harsh with me. It was like a switch in her flipped. She even refused to be associated with me. She didn’t want a kid who was in my kind of situation; forced to drop out of school in second year. She abused me, verbally and physically. I had never seen this side of my mother. We only

Ladies, This Is The Reason Why You Should Never Use A honeypot Tightening Stick

Image
There is now a new craze for the usage of honeypot tightening sticks, or wands for ladies out there who feel their down below is not as tight as it should be. These are sticks of made of ground up plants, herbs, and other mysterious substances, that those worried about their tightness are encouraged to insert inside their honeypots for two minutes and they are being sold online. The sellers promise that the stick will tighten and ‘clean’ the honeypot, with one company suggesting the resulting tightness will ‘make you feel wanted again.’ Right. So this is for our partners. So he’ll want us again – now that our honeypots aren’t giant caves of despair.  It’s also claimed that the sticks will eliminate honeypotl discharge. And this is where we remind everyone, once again, that the honeypot is a self-cleaning, self-regulating, generally wonderful thing. It’s not supposed to be a pencil-narrow suction cup, and it’s most definitely NOT supposed to be discharge-free (discharge is all

Doctors in Port Harcourt protest over incessant kidnappings of colleagues

Image
Members of the Nigerian Medical Association staged a protest yesterday over the increased rate of abduction of medical practitioners in the state. The doctors came out in large numbers for the peaceful protest. Some of them were seen on their laboratory coats carrying placards, others just held their stethoscope. Former chairman of the NMA Dr, Ibitorukuemi Kurubo  explained the purpose of the protest: “When people are sick or when we want to take deliveries of babies we don’t call security agencies to do it for us. For instance, Lassa Fever issue is on. We are confronting it. Two doctors have died in the process, that is our job. We are trained to do it and we must treat patients no matter how deadly the diseases are because that is our job. Security agencies in the state must rise up and do their job. “The peaceful protest today is to send a clear warning that if there is anymore kidnap of doctors in the state, NMA will take a far reaching decision,” The doctors marched to

Police find two-year-old boy stuck in the toilet crying after his parents left him alone to shop

Image
A 2 year old's parents have been arrested on Thursday after he was found stuck in a toilet while left home alone. Police say that neighbors in a building on Kingston Drive in Canton, Ohio called after hearing a child crying for at least half an hour at the Skyline Terrace apartments, according to IndeOnline. The superintendent allowed cops inside the building where they reportedly found a two-year-old boy stuck in the toilet. The poor tyke had apparently used the toilet and fell inside and got trapped.   Police say his parents were nowhere to be found.  Authorities freed the boy, and then set about trying to find his parents and called social workers.   They also reportedly found three marijuana plants growing in a cupboard. Nearly two hours later, the boy's mother, Justice M. Chance, 20, returned from the store, carrying Walmart bags.   Cops say the mom had apparently left the child home while she went shopping. She reportedly told police that her sister was sup

Toddler diagnosed with cancer at just 11 days old, sedated over 30 times

Image
Little Daisy Stovell was only 11 days old when she became one of the youngest cancer patients in Britain - after a chance diagnosis by doctors.  The 22-month-old was born with breathing difficulties and, after a series of tests, doctors were convinced she had an obstruction in her throat. She was transferred from Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Stirlingshire, where she was born, to Glasgow's Yorkhill Children's Hospital for further examination. The newborn was put under general anaesthetic - her first of 30 so far - and, while she was sedated, doctors decided to carry out a routine eye check. And it was a decision that almost certainly saved her sight - and possibly her life - after they discovered she had a rare form of eye cancer called retinoblastoma. There are only 40 to 50 cases of the disease in the UK every year, with many children not diagnosed until the tumour is too big to save their sight. Luckily, Daisy's rapidly growing tumour was caught when it was jus
