According to Vanguard, Maria, who was arrested by the police along five other accomplices, said her boyfriend who got her pregnant, asked her to abort the baby but said a doctor helped her with free antenatal care and food until she gave birth. This, she added, prompted her to agree to sell the baby when arrangements were made to sell. Paraded along with Maria were a 55-year-old medical doctor, Okokon Offiong Okoho, the proprietor of Evangel Clinic,of 2, Atu Street; a 70-year-old matron of Sadatoe Maternity located at Umoh Street and a nurse at the maternity who allegedly made the plans to sell the girl to an Abuja-based lady who is now on the run. NCC Withdraws 'Data Floor Price' for Telecoms Operators

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Monday said it has withdrawn the “data floor price’’ for operators in the telecommunications industry. “Floor price’’ is a government or group-imposed price control or the limit a price can be charged for a product to check unhealthy rivalry among players. In a statement in Lagos, the commission said that the withdrawal was in a bid to ensure sustainability, growth and development of the data service market segment. “However, the commission will restore the floor price if any distortion is observed within the market segment,’’ it said. NAN reports that with the withdrawal of the price, telecommunications industry now has the permission of NCC to charge subscribers lower than the set lowest industry prices. I Didn't get anything from Jonathan - Edwin Clark

Image
Elder Statesman, Chief Edwin Clark has dismissed media speculations that he betrayed former President Goodluck Jonathan by saying that the former president lacked the will to fight corruption. Clark who was a known associate of the former president denied the allegations claiming that his statements were sensationally presented. He insisted that he didn’t get anything from the former president and despite his willingness to fight corruption, he was sabotaged. In a 3,902-word letter, Clark said “My statements on President Jonathan and my quitting partisan politics were wickedly, sensationally presented. “It must be admitted that President Jonathan was very willing to fight corruption, but he believed that due process should and must be followed otherwise he could have initiated investigations into the scandals of Halliburton, Siemens and other serious alleged corruption charges levelled against some former Heads of State and other prominent Nigerians. ‘He was sabotaged’ “Jonathan

Supreme Court Ruling: Nobody Can Steal My Mandate - says Wike

Image
The Supreme Court has ruled that the relocation of the Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal from Port Harcourt to Abuja is in order. In a ruling on Tuesday, the Supreme Court held that the relocation of the tribunal to Abuja did not vitiate the jurisdiction of the tribunal to hear and determine the petition challenging the election of Governor Nyesom Wike. The Justice Mohammed Ambrosa-led tribunal had on Saturday in its judgment on the petition by the All Progressives Congress and its candidate in the April 11, 2015 election, Dakuku Peterside, nullified Wike’s election and ordered a fresh poll to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission. In its judgment on an appeal challenging the tribunal’s jurisdiction on Tuesday, the Justice John Fabiyi-led seven-man panel of the Supreme Court in its unanimous judgment dismissed Wike’s appeal as lacking in merit. According to the lead judgment read by Justice Amiru Sanusi on Tuesday, the Supreme Cour
