NFF takes Nigerian football to Zenith

A new chapter  was opened in Nigeria football on Monday when the Nigeria Football Federation and Zenith Bank PLC announced a partnership for youth football development and capacity building programs. Electricity tariff hike set for October – FG

A BUJA —  Despite resistance from Nigerians, the Federal Government, yesterday, insisted that the proposed increase in electricity tariffs would commence from October. Speaking at the Powering Africa Nigeria conference in Abuja, Mr. Godknows Igali, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, further stated that Federal Government is committed to improving the fortunes of the power sector and also provide an enabling environment for investors in the sector. According to him, government will continue to refine whatever needs to be refined in the power sector to enable investors in the sector do business profitably. He disclosed that the power sector remains one of the best places to invest in, because the sector pays for itself and also because the challenges of gas supply had been significantly addressed. T he  recent search of Government House, Uyo by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS has elicited strong comments. While partisans of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP are condemning it, opponents of the ruling party in the state mostly found in the All Progressives Congress, APC are speaking in favour of the alleged invasion. Two leading partisans in the two parties, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanag, a former military administrator spoke in condemnation of the action of the DSS, Leo Ekpeyong, an  Abuja based lawyer from Akwa Ibom State spoke passionately in favour of the action. A Herbalist and welder caught when trying to stead a corpse

Officers of the Nigerian Legion, Ado Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun state on Sunday, Sept. 13 arrested Oke Akindele and Timothy Oniyide, both residents of the state for attempting to exhume a corpse. Abother suspect, Monday Kugbi, was said to have fled upon sighting the officers but his pregnant wife, Mary Kugbi, aged 20, was arrested. According to P.M. News, The Legion, acting on a tip off, stormed the Igan – Alade community in Yewa North local government area of the state,where the incident occurred. The Squad Leader of the Nigerian Legion, AOLG, Second Lt. Olorumleke Oluwaseyi disclosed that it took them hours to arrest the culprits while one of them fled away. "We got the information that some persons were digging a corpse in Igan-Alade area and when we got to the area around 11:00 pm last night, we conducted our investigation and two names were given to us."
