Buhari will fulfill his campaign promises — Lai Mohammed, others

Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
have assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu
Buhari will fulfill his campaign promises with the
support of all.
They gave the assurances in separate interviews with
the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday on the
sideline of the 2015 Presidential Inauguration ceremony
held at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
Mr Lai Mohammed, the APC’s National Pubicity
Secretary, however, urged Nigerians to be patient
with the new administration as the administration was
ready to make extra sacrifices in order to satisfy the
expectations of Nigerians.
“We are all excited and we feel elated because the day
that we thought was not possible has finally comes.
“With today also comes very heavy burdens and
responsibilities because the expectation out there is
very high and people are expecting change overnight.
“Change might not come overnight in the sense of
coming on Saturday but we are going to set the moral
tone from today.

“Nigerians would not t accept any excuses, therefore,
we must make more sacrifices to ensure that we
deliver on a proper note. ‘’
On his part, Sen. Olorunibe Mamora, Deputy
Director-General of the Buhari Campaign
Organisation, said that change already began when
Nigeria made history by electing an opposition party
which was the first in its history.

According to him, the challenges on ground are
enormous but the new administration under the APC
would strive to tackle three main issues of insecurity,
corruption, and economy.
“In spite of the daunting challenges, I can assure you
that we are undaunted and we would do our best to
meet the yearnings and of the people.
“I also need to ask that the people must be patient and
this things cannot be done overnight.
“Insecurity would be tackled, corruption would be
tackled and economy would be tackled and the three of
them are interwoven because once these three are
tackled, it would result in multiplier effects.

“ If you tackle corruption, you would save money to
plough into the system to jump start the economy.
“Once you are able to plough the money into
manufacturing, into agriculture, into mineral
resources, you would create employment for the people.
“Youth employment would be reduced, once you create a
conducive environment, investors can come and invest.’’

Also speaking with NAN, Sen. Hariat Gwadebe, a
former senator representing the FCT, said that the
organisation of the programme, which was orderly, was
a good indicator as to what Nigerians should expect
from the new government.
She urged the Buhari administration to ensure rule of
law, discipline, and a corrupt-free system.
On his part, Sen. Bukola Saraki said that the
celebration was not just for the APC but for all, as
every Nigerian contributed to making the change a
reality.
He said that the Buhari administration would be a
people’s government and pledged to contribute his own
quota in the success of the administration.
Saraki urged Nigerians to support the new
administration so that Nigeria could regain its rightful
place in the commity of nations.
Mr Behgjet Pacolli, former President of Kosovo, told
NAN that the legacy set by Nigeria, through the
transition and inauguration of a new president, was a
model for oher countries to emulate.
Pacoli said that former President Goodluck Jonathan
had made a name in Nigeria’s history by ensuring a
free and fair election and for conceding defeat.
