Apart from the superlative media coverage, glamour
and the vastly dignified personalities which coloured the
high profile wedding, between 63 year old, Edo State
Governor, Adams Oshiomole, and an amazingly young
Lara Forte from Cape Verde Island, now Mrs.
Oshiomole, there is something more captivating about
their nuptials and it is the manner at which ‘His-
Excellency’ dazed his public as a newly rejuvenated
governor, who is as fit as ever, even in the affairs of
running the race of love.
The unconventionality of Oshimole’s relationship with
his newly wedded wife perfectly reflects my stance on
love as an affection which can only be best defined by
the actors confined in the warmth of the feeling.
From the third-party point of view, many of us have
attempted to decipher what love is, judging on our own
personal experiences or sometimes based on the
commonest accounts on love tales told in our given
society – An approach which can be very misleading,
considering that ‘love’ as a feeling, can’t be scientifically
exposed to everyone under the same condition, so one
should on this premise expect no potent formula to
loving someone.
Describing his own truest feeling for Lara, Oshiomhole
said: “She is very humble; she appreciates the nature
of my job and life that I return home late, sometimes
3am. She understands my weaknesses; she is more or
less the mother of the house, the one that has accepted
to be the mother of my children.
“I am happy that all my children are at home with her
and accept her as their mother even though she is not
old enough to be their mother. She has accepted to fill
that gap” he explained.
As simple as the reasons cited by the governor for
loving his wife may sound, it is a huge gap which can
only be filled by someone special. Every lady can’t fill
into every man’s desire; it takes only two mutually
consenting adults to seal a union.
Unfortunately, the account of the bride which
dominated the social media yesterday was filled with
speculations, rumors and malicious statements from the
third party point of views of those who raise the
following questions: Is she, Lara not too beautiful and
young a lady for Oshiomole? Is she after the money?
Could their love be real?
Notwithstanding the forgoing outrage that trailed the
glamorous wedding, Lara’s pedigree as a lady deflated
all the questions raised by critics. She is obviously from
a well to do family and her career is equally
overwhelming. Her parents flew in from their
Netherlands home to celebrate their daughter, a top
model and lawyer by profession.
Besides it is a known fact that a woman could see an
older man as more appealing, especially when one
considers their nature-they are more mature and stable
when compared to their younger counterparts. She may
also think an older man is well suites her because she
wants to be cared for in a particular style and she
deserves the right to such taste.
In the most informal tone, highly revered social media
commentator, Prof. Pius Adesanmi captured a whole
lots of the surrounds of the so many attacks rained on
the novel couple as an outburst of jealousy.
