How robbers invade Ogun hospital, rape patients, nurses

ABEOKUTA—Ogun State Police Command has
arrested suspected armed robbers, who allegedly robbed
and raped patients and nurses at a private hospital in
Ijebu-Ode.

Police also said the suspects were responsible for the
killing of one Alayande Oladipupo after dispossessing him
of his belongings in Ijebu-Ode.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa
Adejobi, said in a statement that no fewer than 10 armed
robbers had been arrested in Ijebu-Ode for the two
incidents.

According to Adejobi, the command made the arrest while
acting on a tip-off that the armed men, who had been
terrorizing Ijebu-Ode and its environ, were sighted at
Molipa-Ikanga area in Ijebu-Ode about 5:30p.m. on
Saturday
He said: “The police operatives attached to Igbeba
Division of the command swung into action immediately
the information got to them and rushed to the said area
where the suspected armed robbers opened fire on the
police operatives, who responded with heavy fire power
before eight of them were arrested.

“These suspects have been identified as the killers of one
Alayande Oladipo, who was shot dead in Ijebu-Ode on
August 25 and those responsible for the robbery and rape
cases at a hospital in Ijebu-Ode.

“The suspects had robbed patients and staff of the said
hospital and raped some of them during their operation at
the hospital.”

Man set ablaze for stealing a woman pot of soup

CALABAR—A mob in Calabar, Cross River State capital, yesterday, butchered a young man and set the remains on fire beside Atu Secondary School fence along Goldie Street, for allegedly robbing a woman of a pot of soup. His two accomplices escaped. The hoodlum, in the company of two others, were alleged to have attacked the woman at Mayne Avenue Extension in Calabar South. They were allegedly attracted by the aroma of the soup the woman was warming for her family’s breakfast before heading for early morning mass at nearby St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. A young man, who lives in the same premises with the lady, said as the robbers were about to get out of the compound with the pot of soup, the woman raised the alarm, prompting neighbours to go after them. I killed Our Rival To Avenge My Brother's Death - Cultist (photo)

A self-acclaimed member of Eiye confraternity yesterday gave a graphic description of how he murdered one of his rivals during a birthday party held in Mushin area of Lagos last week. Arrested alongside the 22-year-old suspect was his alleged accomplice. The deceased, a commercial motorcyclist, identified as Sura Abiola Lateef, was reportedly attacked along with his friend, when they stepped out to buy sachet water. While his friend, identified as Rilwan, was said to have managed to escape with a deep cut in the neck, same could not be said of Lateef, who was stabbed in different parts of his body and abandoned in the pool of his blood and he bled to death. Briefing newsmen on activities of cultists in the state, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, said the command had launched a manhunt for cultists, disclosing that over 20 suspected cultists had been arrested between October 18 and 21, 2015.
