97 dead in Turkey twin bomb blast (photos)

97 people were killed and over 400 others injured after two powerful bombs went off near the main train station in Ankara, the Turkish capital this morning where a peace rally calling for an end to the renewed conflict between the Kurdish PKK organization and the Turkish government.




About 14,000 people were in the area as at the time of the explosion. Two suicide bombers are believed to have caused the blasts. Following the attack, for which no group has claimed responsibility, bodies lay in front of the station on Hipodrum Street and paramedics tended to the injured as a police helicopter circled overhead. Bodies strewn on sidewalks, with injured people lying on the ground.

Septuagenarian inlaw of Oba Akinruntan kidnapped in Ondo

At least six gun wielding suspected kidnappers have reportedly abducted a septuagenarian inlaw of the business mogul and the Olugbo of Ugbo, in Ondo state Oba Fredrick Akinruntan . Madan Omogbene Adeborile was reportedly abducted at her Igbotako resident by the kidnappers who came in a Toyota car and shot sporadically into the air to scare the people. They were able to escape with the old woman following the confusion that occurred after the shooting took place in the town. Vanguard gathered that the victim is also the wife to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP chairman in one of the wards in Igbotako . I killed Our Rival To Avenge My Brother's Death - Cultist (photo)

A self-acclaimed member of Eiye confraternity yesterday gave a graphic description of how he murdered one of his rivals during a birthday party held in Mushin area of Lagos last week. Arrested alongside the 22-year-old suspect was his alleged accomplice. The deceased, a commercial motorcyclist, identified as Sura Abiola Lateef, was reportedly attacked along with his friend, when they stepped out to buy sachet water. While his friend, identified as Rilwan, was said to have managed to escape with a deep cut in the neck, same could not be said of Lateef, who was stabbed in different parts of his body and abandoned in the pool of his blood and he bled to death. Briefing newsmen on activities of cultists in the state, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, said the command had launched a manhunt for cultists, disclosing that over 20 suspected cultists had been arrested between October 18 and 21, 2015.
