Air Force plane crashes in Yola, killing all on board

An aircraft that belonged to the Nigerian Air Force crashed in Yola, Adamawa state yesterday, killing all on board.
The identities of those on board have not been disclosed yet.
In a statement issued late last night, the spokesperson for the Air force, Air Commodore Dele Alonge, confirmed the accident, stating that the crash occurred at about 4:23pm and that it occurred due to bad weather.
He said the F7-Ni fighter jet, with registration number, NAF801, was “returning to base from a mission when it crashed around Hong, in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
He said: “There was no survival as the pilot of the aircraft lost his life in the unfortunate incident.”

Man set ablaze for stealing a woman pot of soup

CALABAR—A mob in Calabar, Cross River State capital, yesterday, butchered a young man and set the remains on fire beside Atu Secondary School fence along Goldie Street, for allegedly robbing a woman of a pot of soup. His two accomplices escaped. The hoodlum, in the company of two others, were alleged to have attacked the woman at Mayne Avenue Extension in Calabar South. They were allegedly attracted by the aroma of the soup the woman was warming for her family’s breakfast before heading for early morning mass at nearby St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. A young man, who lives in the same premises with the lady, said as the robbers were about to get out of the compound with the pot of soup, the woman raised the alarm, prompting neighbours to go after them. At least six gun wielding suspected kidnappers have reportedly abducted a septuagenarian inlaw of the business mogul and the Olugbo of Ugbo, in Ondo state Oba Fredrick Akinruntan . Madan Omogbene Adeborile was reportedly abducted at her Igbotako resident by the kidnappers who came in a Toyota car and shot sporadically into the air to scare the people.
