The popular Ikeja electronics market also known as 'IkejaComputer village' waked to an atmosphere of excitement on Thursday Jan 21,2016 as dignitaries from State and Localgovernment, community and market leaders and members of the press, converged atthe market ground to commission TECNO corporate social responsibility project.
Dubbed the “Light up Ikeja” project, TECNO telecoms limited(the registered company of TECNO Mobile) donated eighty eight (88) high end solar-poweredstreetlights, full installation by Arthur EnergyTechnology Ltd to its Ikeja host as a token of appreciation for years ofpeaceful co-existence.
Addressing guests in his opening speech the ManagingDirector TECNO telecoms limited, Mr. Chidi Okonkwo said TECNO will continue toinvest in a broad spectrum of community-centric projects to better the livespeople in its sphere of operations, in his words:
“Itis proven that private corporations with strong community focus in theirbusiness agenda tend to prosper better than the others…We’ll like to use this avenue toencourage other businesses and corporations in the area to show commitment tocommunity development by spearheading projects that have lasting impact on thecommunity,”theTECNO Managing director says.
The iFLUXengineered streetlights of have a two years warranty cover and will enjoymaintenance for optimum operation by CarlcareTM, another subsidiaryof TRASSION Holdings as is the TECNO Mobile and iFLUX brands.
“We’reelated as anagency to see what TECNO has done heretoday and we look forward topartnerships between private corporations like TECNO, who are community-centricand the government to bring life changing projects to the people,”says Mr. OlufemiOdubiyi, theHonorable Commissioner for Science and Technology.
Theheight of the occasion was a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the Commissioner ofScience and Technology, Honorable OlufemiOdubiyi, the TECNO MD, Mr. ChidiOkonkwo, representatives from the Local government area, community and marketleaders and members of the press to mark the official commissioning of theproject.
